As If! An Ode to Clueless: A Visual Interpretation of the 90s Classic Through Illustration

I grew up in the 90’s with a great love for all things Lisa Frank, so when Insomnia Gallery announced their Lisa Frank Art Show I knew I had to participate! I’m also a huge fan of the 1995 classic Clueless, so I couldn't resist combining the two! I created these pieces in a Lisa Frank-inspired style that will take you back to your 90s childhood. The first thing I had to make sure to capture was the signature vibrant colors of Lisa Frank’s artwork and wanted to incorporate a unique take on classic moments from the movie. I strive to capture emotion in my work, and I hope I did a great job of conveying the innocence and naïveté of Cher Horowitz. I love Lisa Frank’s use of patterns and geometric shapes, so it's definitely something I knew others would expect to see in a Lisa Frank illustration! These illustrations feature portraits of Cher (Alicia Silverstone), Josh (Paul Rudd) and Amber (Elisa Donovan), my favorite Clueless quotes and the bright, rainbow colors found in Lisa Frank’s pieces.If you're looking for a fun way to relive your childhood (or just want to appreciate some amazing art), you can take home one (or all!) of these prints!
